The Nature Channel

As a kid growing up in a science family, a great deal of our television time was spent watching the Nature Channel. During these long winter days (when let's face it, bears have the right idea to hibernate), I find myself being reminded of those nature programs while watching our daughters. Let me clarify; no, not the scenes of predator versus prey when I always made my dad change the channel (although I hear from my friends with twins that the two year old stage may resemble that). Instead, they remind me of what was always my favorite part of these shows; when the baby animals would roll around and play with one another. Inevitably one of the siblings would take it too far and the mother bear, lion, tiger, etc. would eventually have to intervene, Mama Laura not being excluded from this group. The scenes were always quite entertaining up until that point, however. Here is some evidence of our little animals in action.........

New Tricks

Claire and Lucy both have new tricks up their sleeves these days. Claire sat up by herself for the first time on January 10th. Lucy followed on January 26th. They are very proud of themselves and thoroughly enjoying their new view of the world. Claire loves any game in which she can be wild. Watch the peek-a-boo video to get a glimpse of this! Lucy is our TALKER!!! Whether she is in the car, in her crib supposedly taking a nap or it is 4 AM, you can hear her happily repeating her favorite word "da-da-da-da". She must be up to over a thousand times a day. She gets quite a kick out of herself, as does her sister!

Rice Cereal

We decided to give solid foods a try.... the girls were a little skeptical but we are not giving up yet. I mean, they have Judd's and my genes, they are bound to pick up on the wonder of eating sooner or later, right!?

I think that Claire wants to try this first........

The 12 (or in this case, 30) days of Christmas

Well, now that the decorations are down, the bills are payed and the thank you notes written, it is time to grant all the requests and FINALLY post a blog of the girls' first Christmas. We had a wonderful time with all of our friends and family. Here are some pictures of our family's first Christmas. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Six months old and best friends

Do you believe the little munchkins are six months old already!? They are starting to be more aware of one another which is both darling and problematic. They make each other laugh, especially when one sneezes (odd but true). The current favorite toy is whichever one the other one is playing with...... we are glimpsing our future with fights and temper tantrums! Here are some pictures of them both in action.

Hello everyone, its Lucy here! Mommy put Claire down for a nap so it is time for MY first blog! I had a great Christmas! We got a new video camera so you will get to see lots of us in the future! Mommy sure does love to take pictures and videos of Claire and me. She tells me that we are pretty cute! I really like to play with my sister. She sure does make me laugh. She takes my toys a lot though too so it is nice when she sleeps and I have them to myself! I like to play on the floor and roll around.

My toys are pretty cool but I love it the most when other people play with me. Mommy calls me a “people person” but I just love to talk! I am really getting into belly laughing! Daddy says that there is nothing better in the world than to hear my belly laugh! Below is a video where Claire just cracked me up! I am playing so hard during the day that, most of the time, I sleep through the night now. This really makes Mommy and Daddy happy! I also really like to take naps in my swing. Well, I am getting pretty hungry so I am going to go have a baba and watch the Ellen Show….. I like to dance with Mommy when Ellen plays music!

A shout out from Claire

Hello everyone! This is my first official blog so I thought that I would tell you all what I have been up to over the holidays! I had a great time while Daddy was on vacation for almost two weeks!! He went back to work today so Mommy, Lucy and I are trying to pass the time. I am just loving life right now! I smile all the time, I play with my toys and I have the absolute best time in my jumperoo! Hopefully soon, Mommy will get a video of it and you can see me in action. It took a bit for me to understand what I had to do but once I got the hang of jumping, I went to TOWN! I also really like to dance, especially when my cousins, Nick and Max are around. They are so funny. They like to dance and then tell me to "freeze" and I stop dancing. Below is a video of it from Christmas. Yes, that is a bow on my head...... Grandad thought that it would be funny to put bows on Lucy and me.

I also REALLY like mirrors. I don't really understand who is in the mirror but she sure is good looking! Sometimes that baby in the mirror gets so excited that she scares me a little bit but mostly she just makes me laugh! Well, Mommy tells me that it is time to take a nap. I had better get going.
