Growing Up

Our little Lucy is really growing up..... too fast! It has been quite some time since Lucy has had a stretch of time that she wasn't sick. Since she has been healthy (knock on wood), we have seen her personality really start to develop. And what a darling she is! And FUNNY! In a continuation of the "God Bless You" story from Claire.... Claire sneezed last night and I said, "God Bless You". Lucy followed it up with, "Amen". Judd and I were laughing hysterically! It was so cute. She is into hiding things and then saying, "Where'd go?" while holding her hands up. Then she says, "I hide it" and goes and gets it to show you. When she wants to be held, she stands at your feet, with her hands in the air and says, "I hold you". She's got her pronouns mixed up but it is so darling! She loves to go on the swings outside and play with her baby dolls, tucking them in and giving them blankies to sleep with. Just when we think she's growing up too fast though, she asks for her blankie. Below, she found her back-up blankie and decided that she needed both of them, while drinking her ba-ba.... and playing dress-up. This girl is a multi-tasker! And we love her very much!

Ag Days

We took Claire and Lucy to "Ag Days" at the 4-H County Fair this past weekend. They were in absolute awe of all the animals! I thought that we might not get out of there without purchasing a few ducklings but we managed to leave without our family growing in number! Daddy got back to his roots by showing the girls how to "milk" the cow! For those of you who don't know, Judd's dad built him his own cow when he was a boy... out of saw horses and rubber gloves. Judd had a "barn" and milked his cow every morning. I love that story and hope that our daughters inherited their grandfather's and daddy's imaginations!

Nurse Claire

I have to praise my little Claire who has been quite a trooper in the last few weeks. Lucy had a terrible case of pinkeye and a high fever. She spent most of the week in my lap. The poor thing was miserable. Thank goodness she is much better now! Claire was very understanding and helpful during all of it. She even learned how to say "Bless You" when Lucy would sneeze. The funniest thing happened after Lucy was better but I caught pinkeye. I picked up the drops from the pharmacy and the girls watched me as I put them in my eye for the first time. They were both standing at my feet and when I opened my eye and looked down. Claire said, "Good Girl Mommy". I guess she payed attention all those times I had put drops in Lucy's eyes the week before!

BUT....... She still is only 20 months......Literally, as I wrote this post and thought that the girls were still sleeping....... I went up to get them and found that Claire had taken her pajamas and dirty diaper off and it was everywhere! Something this first-time mom learned this morning..... don't flush baby wipes down the toilet in an old home.

Pants

I would like to share with you two sentences that I just never thought I would ever say but first I have to give you some background information. The girls are very into getting dressed (or rather, undressed) these days. Claire's favorite pass time is taking her pants off.

1. "Claire, you can't go answer the door with your pants down around your ankles." (Who was at the door? A poor kid selling coupon books and yes, Claire shimmied all the way to the door with her pants around her ankles before I could catch her. Judd had opened the door before he knew what was going on).

2. "Lucy, why are you wearing Claire's pants and what did you do with yours?" (Come to find out, Lucy actually still was wearing her pants and just put Claire's on top of her own after, you guessed it, Claire had taken hers off.)

Splash, Splash!!

We took the girls on an overnight adventure to an indoor waterpark. They had a blast! They must have said "splash, splash" a million times last weekend! We got there around dinner on Friday evening. We ate and swam until bedtime. We woke up in the morning to Lucy saying "Splash, splash". We quickly got breakfast and headed back to the water. Claire had a great time playing in the kiddy pool, exploring and watching the other kids. Lucy must have gone down the small water slide 50 times, all by herself. She climbed the steps and stood patiently in line. Claire also LOVED the bunkbeds in the hotel room. Each had its own little nightlight that she turned on and off and on and off and on and off.........

A Little More Lovin'

Our First Pets

Judd and I got the girls fish for Valentine's Day. They loved them! Their reaction was priceless and I wish that we would have gotten it on video camera. They were just as excited this morning when they realized that the fish were still here. Lucy tried to share her granola bar with them while Claire tried to get them to play Play-doh with her. Someday, their boyfriends are going to have a tough time finding a present to top this Valentine's Day!
